Protect the Protest taskforce

Fighting for free speech in the face of corporate intimidation lawsuits

For too long, some of the world’s biggest polluters have used bullying lawsuits to silence free speech and intimidate activists, organizations and journalists who shine a light on their wrongdoing. These strategic lawsuits against public participation (or SLAPP suits) threaten democracy and free speech. Together with a new taskforce of more than a dozen organizations, we’re fighting back to expose this courtroom bullying, defeat and stop SLAPP suits, and protect everyone’s right to protest and freely speak the truth.

Stand.earth, Greenpeace and allies gathered out in front of the Federal Courthouse, Northern District of California, in solidarity against bully lawsuits like the one brought by Resolute Forest Products.

Protect the Protest was formed around just this kind of solidarity. We're sending a clear message to companies: picking on one of us is picking on all of us.
