This morning on the floor of the House of Commons, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the creation of a National Carbon Price. Starting in 2018, the plan will mandate a national floor price of $10 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions, rising each year to $50 a tonne by 2022.
Making polluters pay for their emission is an important first building block in creating Canada’s National Climate Plan. We applaud the government for taking this important first step.
