Worth More Standing: Join the day of action for old growth on June 10th
Worth More Standing: Join the day of action for old growth on June 10th
Wednesday June 02, 2021

Premier Horgan’s recent forestry announcement disappointed people across the province who were expecting the B.C. NDP to finally show some leadership on old growth protection. There was no mention of timely deferrals or reprieve for Indigenous land defenders and their allies at Fairy Creek.

A coordinated day of action is needed to increase the pressure on **all MLAs** because we have inside intel that this strategy is working.

On June 10th, constituents across B.C. will gather in their respective ridings and host a creative protest outside their MLA’s offices to let them know that old growth is #WorthMoreStanding. You can find out who your MLA is by searching here.

We will use this page and our Facebook event to post details of all the events we know of that are taking place on June 10th.

Keep checking back and refreshing for updates as more are added! Know of an event that isn't on this page, or want to organize one yourself? Email us at bcforests@stand.earth, or enter the details into this survey form.

NOTE: This day of action is being planned because ancient forests are imminently at risk, but more broadly because Indigenous rights and sovereignty continue to be violated in the wake of resource extraction. All old growth forests across the province are on unceded, ancestral Indigenous lands — the long term management plan must include FULL, consent based engagement with Indigenous Nations and their diverse set of voices.
