Trista Kendall

Director of Leadership Development

Trista joined Stand.earth in May 2014 with more than a decade of nonprofit communications and development experience. Originally part of Stand's Institutional Giving team, Trista transitioned in 2017 to Director of Leadership Development to support people across the Stand community to do their best work to protect the people and places we love. In order to make sure the movement has the right people with the right skills in the right place at the right time, Trista leads Stand's team responsible for recruiting, human resources, operations, internal professional development, and external leadership growth. Her work focuses specifically on driving Stand's continual growth toward more equitable systems internally and externally, with a particular emphasis currently on racial equity, gender equity, and socioeconomic equity.

Prior to joining Stand.earth, Trista raised funds and rallied support for groundbreaking education, exhibition, and filmmaker support programs at the San Francisco Film Society and worked with several national clients at M+R Strategic Services to build successful online engagement and fundraising campaigns. She began her nonprofit career advocating for voluntary, high-quality pre-kindergarten available to all with the Pre-K Now project of The Pew Charitable Trusts. Trista holds a B.A. in German Studies and Ethics from Smith College, where she was chosen to participate in the Phoebe Reese Lewis Leadership Program.

When she’s not at Stand.earth, Trista enjoys cooking, reading, brewing beer, SCUBA diving, and exploring wild places around the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas.
